Rocher Withdrawn from WEG Contention - Jul 30, 2006
We regrettably must announce that we are withdrawing Rocher's name from contention for the US 2006 season. Unfortunately, Rocher has sustained another injury which will prevent her from competing for the remainder of the 2006 season. Read more...

Young Horses To Watch
Devon, Gray Westfalen gelding, foaled April 20, 2000, by Donnerbube I out of FItje by Fidux. Bred by Friedrich Vekins, Gut Edelbur, Hemer, German.

Rocher Returns
Of all the living beings thrilled and excited about her return to competition, Rocher was the one who appeared to be most delighted to be back in the limelight. With her radar ears at attention in her stall, during horse inspection and in the warm up there was no doubt, one of America’s top horses, sidelined in 2004 with tendonitis, was thrilled to be back in action, handily winning both her Grand Prix (70.5%) and Grand Prix Special (70.960) at Paxton Farms CDI*** Dressage Show, in Batavia, Ohio, May 14-15, 2005.

George Williams piloted Rocher, the beautiful black 12-year-old Westphalian mare by Rolls Royce out of Fraenzi by Fruhlingstern, to victory, choosing Paxton Farm as the perfect venue for her comeback. “I didn’t necessarily plan her first time out at a CDI,” said Williams, “but Paxton Farms has such a great atmosphere and perfect footing no matter what the weather conditions, and I knew she would be safe here.” Williams, who rides for Rocher’s owners, Chuck and Joanne Smith of Gypsy Woods Farm, credits the Smiths for their support in doing whatever it took to insure Rocher had the best of care during her recovery, as well as the veterinarian team of Dr. Rick Mitchell, Dr. Carolyn Weinberg, and Dr. Bill Patterson for their dedication and skill in managing her rehabilitation.

Rocher 2004
Rocher has developed some tendonitis, unfortunately so far it is not responding as well to traditional treatment as we had hoped. While we have been given two options we feel at this point in time that in the best interest of this wonderful horse we may have to withdraw her from the selection process for the 2004 Olympic games in Athens. Our final decision will be based on the simple fact that we don't want to do anything that puts Rocher at greater risk of injury nor do we want to hinder her full recovery.

We know that the news of her tendonitis will disappoint Rocher's many fans, however it is our hope and expectation that given the proper time and treatment Rocher will be back in international competition in the future.

Marnix and George Williams in Florida
Everyone has heard about the winning team of George Williams and Rocher but there is another Grand Prix athlete from the stables at Gypsy Woods Farm. In 2004 Marnix is starting the year off strong with a Grand Prix Special score of 70.65% from the Wellington Dressage Show.
